The Albanese government is expected to ignore the demands made by the Greens to further dismantle the stage three tax cuts, despite listening to them respectfully. The Greens are insisting that high-income earners receive no tax cuts, while the already-legislated original tax cuts that favor higher-income earners will automatically begin on July 1 if the Greens oppose Labor's package. Greens leader Adam Bandt believes that Labor's tax package is still too generous and that the money should be used for health and social services for low- and middle-income earners.
The Albanese government will listen “respectfully” to demands by the Greens to further pull apart the stage three tax cuts , and then most likely ignore them, sources say. That is because if the Greens do not get what they want and oppose Labor ’s package, the already-legislated original stage three tax cuts that favour higher-income earners much more will begin automatically on July 1.
