The Albanese government has put a target cap on the cost of the National Disability Insurance Scheme in a bid to “rein in the scheme’s ballooning cost”, says Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell.

“For years the states have capped their contribution at four per cent growth and the federal government is finally attempting to do the same,” Mr Clennell said.

“From the Prime Minister’s point of view, this measure is not only about the taxpayer but about those with disability in the sense if the scheme just gets too unsustainable, a future government might scrap it altogether. “The government is of the belief there are charges being leveled in this scheme which are just wrong.”
