Douglas MacKinnon argues that Prime Minister Anthony Albanese must acknowledge his government's past mistakes in portraying Donald Trump and embrace the opportunities presented by the 'Trump Agenda' for Australia.

Anthony Albanese should take off his 'partisan blinders' to see the truth behind Donald Trump 's rise after his inauguration, writes Douglas MacKinnon. As the 47th President of the US, Donald J. Trump jokes about making Canada the 51st state and seriously considers buying Greenland while preparing to claw-back the US-built Panama Canal, I was wondering - with tongue firmly in cheek - if there were a percentage of Australians who hope he might also “buy” Australia or turn it into the 52nd state.

Kidding or not, I do suspect there are some in Australia who might be open to that option. Most especially as many believe they are living - and suffering - under the Australian version of the massively failed version of the Biden-Harris “woke before merit” administration. Like the US, Australia is a great nation and has much to offer the world. But to do so, it must become unburdened by the politicians and bureaucrats who are continually destroying it from within via their far left and completely unsustainable policies. As a great nation and ally, a natural question for the Trump administration going forward will be: “Where does Australia fit into Trump’s agenda for the first 100 days and beyond?” A leadership some believe has gone out of its way to smear Trump in the past while openly supporting the Democrats. That said, like Dorothy in the “Wizard of Oz” with her ruby-red slippers, Australia has always had the power within to not only repair the relationship with the now Trump administration, but to grow it. To be sure, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese – like now former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and current UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer – made a number of glaring mistakes when assessing first, Trump the person, and second, Trump the candidate. Mistake number one being that he and his staff bought into the partisan nonsense being spewed in the US by what I call the “five major megaphones” of our nation. As much the same in Australia and many other failing nations, here in the US those megaphones fell under the direct control of the left and far-left over the course of the last five decades or so. Not surprisingly, they were strongly “anti-Trump” and gleefully reported or repeated wildly inaccurate or purposely skewed poll numbers. Anthony Albanese must admit his government was wrong to buy into the ugly narratives about Donald Trump if he wants Australia to benefit from the 'Trump agenda' over the next 100 days, writes Douglas MacKinnon. Picture: Emilia Tortorella/The Australian Given his ideology, Albanese was more than happy to buy into that false narrative and would have hoped to see Harris defeat Trump. His duty - as is the duty of any US President – is to the people he governs. Truth one being to understand why US voters were shifting so dramatically onto the side of candidate Trump. Truth two being to acknowledge the “five major megaphones” of the US – just like in Australia – are populated by far-left entitled elitists who have long been out of touch with the hopes, fears, and dreams of working-class citizens. Question one for the PM is: Does he want Australia to be part of Trump’s first 100 days? Before and since his election, President Trump has been laying out his agenda and his beliefs on “Truth Social” and in various media outlets. Where does he see our two great nations working together going forward? That being, that he is quick to forgive and move on. Job one for Albanese and his government might be to admit they were wrong to buy into the false and ugly narratives regarding Trump. Job two being to wipe the slate clean and admit that the “Trump Agenda” also has the power to lift Australia
