Sky News host Chris Kenny says Opposition leader Anthony Albanese has “talked sense” on the coal industry and successfully put “distance between himself and the Green zealots”. The Labor leader declared this week withdrawing Australia’s coal exports from the market could lead to an increase in global emissions. Mr Kenny said "you have to give the opposition leader credit” for trying to reposition Labor’s stance on the coal industry.
But the Sky News host said "it shows how far off course Labor has strayed when talking a bit of sense about the nation's largest export industry is hailed a breakthrough”. “Labor wouldn't back coal in the lead up to the election, wouldn't back the Adani coal mine and still pushes an alarmist line on climate change that suggests policies that will cripple coal,” Mr Kenny said.
