The Prime Minister has addressed reports the United States President may cancel his trip to Australia later this month amid America's debt ceiling crisis.

Reporters emerged this week that Mr Biden could cancel his first visit to Australia as President amid America's debt ceiling crisis.

Australia is not part of the G7 but Mr Albanese has accepted an invitation from Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to attend. "We have the G7 next weekend. I've been invited by Prime Minister Kishida to attend that in Hiroshima. Asked over the likelihood he may have to stay in Washington to oversee negotiations, Mr Biden described that outcome as"possible, but not likely".

Mr Albanese last month described the Quad meeting at the Sydney Opera House as"a chance for us to work co-operatively with the United States, Japan and India".
