NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet's calls for the seven-day COVID-19 isolation period to be reviewed have been dismissed by Anthony Albanese after the Chief Medical Officer declared 'now's not the time'.
New South Wales Premier Dominic Perrottet has been pushing National Cabinet to look at reducing the time residents infected with coronavirus are required to stay-at-home.
"Well we had that discussion and the advice that is there from the Chief Medical Officer, Professor Kelly, was that now is certainly not the time for that to be reconsidered, that that's something health officials will continue to look at," he said. "But given the increase spread of the COVID virus over recent times that we'll see continuing, it's expected to peak over coming weeks, now's not the time to change those provisions which are there."
"You have to get to a point as country that if you are sick that you stay at home, if you are healthy, you go to work," Mr Perrottet told reporters. Mr Albanese also announced the COVID-19 pandemic leave payment for casual workers who were forced to isolate and could not make an income was being reinstated.
