Mr Albanese will say if the world is to reach net-zero emissions by 2050, spending on clean energy must increase by more than threefold. “It is essential that the unprecedented levels of investment in clean energy technologies required over the coming decades unlocks more diverse and secure supply chains than we have today.
Mr Albanese will attend the Pacific Islands Forum in Suva on Wednesday and Thursday, where he will promise leaders that Australia will shake off nearly a decade of political inaction to become a trusted global partner on climate policy.He will discuss Labor’s proposal to co-host a UN climate summit with Pacific partners, “to elevate and prioritise issues which impact our region the most”.
