Wildfires flourishing in record\u002Dbreaking hot, dry weather forced the evacuation of the entire town of Drayton Valley, west of Edmonton, Thursday night.

A reception centre for evacuees has since been established in Hall C at the Edmonton EXPO Centre, 7515 118 Ave. For more information, evacuees are urged to call 780-542-7777. Close to 7,000 residents call the town of Drayton Valley home. It’s located roughly 144 km southwest of Edmonton.511 AlbertaOfficials from Alberta Wildfire and the Alberta Emergency Management Agency are expected to give a wildfire update to media at 10:30 a.m. this morning in Edmonton.
