Atthawut Tammajanta was controlling and abusive towards his partner Manthana Khantarat before she was found brutally murdered.
Manthana Khantarat , 37, was murdered by her partner Atthawut Tammajanta , 29, on December 18, 2022.About a month before she was killed, Manthana Khantarat confided to her sister that her partner was "jealous and controlling".Ms Khantarat, 37 and Atthawut Tammajanta , 29, had moved in together in a townhouse in Albion Park Rail, 110 kilometres south of Sydney, on November 25, 2022.
The agreed facts tendered to the court detail the assault which took place in various rooms of the Boonerah Street home including two bedrooms, the bathroom and the living room.Ms Khantarat had moved to Australia from Chiang Mai, Thailand, in 2019 on a student visa to be closer to her sister.She met Tammajanta in 2022 when she worked at a Thai restaurant in Newington in Sydney.
After losing their job in Sydney, the couple found employment at another restaurant in Shellharbour and relocated to the Illawarra. The colleague explained in a police interview that in Thailand, the expression "slip-up" meant you had assaulted someone "too much and they are very injured".
