Rights to gender-affirming healthcare will also be removed and street-based sex work offences will continue.Mr Greenwich, who introduced the bill over a year ago, said he had faced considerable pressure from religious organisations but hoped the changes could shore up enough support for the bill to pass parliament this year.
Laws to allow individuals to update their birth certificate without undergoing gender-affirming surgery will also stay. Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Heike Fabig said her son Bodhi Boele died with the wrong gender on his birth certificate due to current NSW law.The 18-year-old, who was a transgender man, died from a degenerative genetic condition earlier this year before his birth certificate could be updated.
