After scoring 15 goals in her first 16 NWSL games this year, Morgan will lead the U.S. women's soccer team's new crop of phenoms into Concacaf's first big tournament outside the U.S. since 2010.
Alex Morgan hasn’t forgotten what it was like the last time the U.S. women’s soccer team played a major Concacaf competition outside of the United States.
“I’m actually very, very happy that we’re playing in Monterrey, in Mexico, rather than another qualifying tournament in the U.S.,” Morgan told The Inquirer by phone from the U.S. team’s camp. “I think this helps give us more tools to prepare for the World Cup than a tournament would in the U.S. ... I think that this is going to really help a lot of the players that haven’t seen things that they’re going to experience here in Mexico for the first time.
“Vlatko has been very transparent with the team about where we are now and how that’s going to play a factor into players playing minutes,” she said of U.S. coach Vlatko Andonovski. “But at the end of the day, we’re here to win the tournament, and we’re here to put the best players on the field. And, for me, I’m here to continue to make a name for myself on this team, get back into the squad definitively, and help this team.
That means, she continued, “doing what I do best: It’s looking at [the] team first, it’s looking at how I can help contribute to this team’s winning mentality, this team’s success.” “I’m so happy for her,” Krieger said. “I think she deserves it. And now that you have to prove yourself every single game in order to get a call, you’re forced to be consistent and play well, and she’s taken that and rolled her sleeves up and done a really great job.”Good times on and off the field

Used Morgan Plus 8 GTR - 1 of 9 for saleThe GTR programme was announced by Morgan Motor Company in 2021 after the discovery of 9 unused V8 ‘Aero’ platforms. These 9 cars are the final and ultimate iteration of over 50 years of Morgan Plus 8 and each car has been specified and crafted in conjunction with the factory Special Projects team. Here we have Plus 8 GTR number 3 of 9, specified to commemorate Morgan’s first aluminium-platform vehicle ‘Big Blue’, the Plus 8 GT racecar of the 1990s. The GTR-specific bodywork is painted in Porsche Sapphire Blue Metallic with the all-aluminium, handcrafted body kit finished in Sophisto Grey; the car sits on Silver 18-inch ‘Super Touring’ wheels. The interior is trimmed in box-pattern Soft-Grain Ivory leather and complimented with Anthracite Grey Box Weave carpet. The dashboard consists of a full-width Raven Wood fascia with Sophisto Grey infills and GTR dials. Not only is the GTR the culmination of the V8 Morgan, it is also the most powerful Morgan production car ever made. Chassis 003’s power is transferred to the wheels via a 6-speed automatic gearbox with paddle-shift option. This is the only example out of the 9 GTRs built that will be offered to the open market, brand-new and directly from the factory. This is therefore an extremely rare opportunity and not one to be missed. The car is on display in our London Showroom in South Kensington, please contact Morgan Works London for further details.
