An alleged carjacker is in police custody, accused of threatening a young mother and her two children in Brisbane’s north with a knife and an axe.

It is alleged he drove a stolen car into the woman’s street, approached her as she stood beside her parked car – which had two children inside – and demanded at knifepoint that she remove them and hand him the keys. After police deployed tyre spikes on the Gateway Motorway in Kedron about 2am, the man finally came to a stop on Gaskell Street in Eight Mile Plains and was arrested.
