An alleged drunk driver has been charged in a crash that seriously injured two of his passengers, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.
Jason Lopez, 39, of Wayne, faces two counts of third-degree assault by auto resulting in serious bodily injury, in addition to multiple motor vehicle summonses, prosecutors said. Police responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Friday at 1:40 a.m. near the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Rock Road in Ridgewood, officials said. Officers located the vehicle, which had left the road and struck a tree, authorities said.
Lopez was brought to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center to be treated for bodily injuries and was found to be intoxicated at the time of the incident, police said. Two passengers were rushed to the same hospital to be treated for serious injuries, officials said.Lopez was also issued summonses for driving while intoxicated, failure to maintain lane and possession of an open alcoholic beverage container, authorizes said.Our journalism needs your support.
