Officials with the U.S. Marshals Service say Task Force members were investigating a man with warrants for weapons violations, as well as a recent homicide.
When they located him around 4 p.m., the man shot at officers"with no regard for the safety of the community," according to the U.S. Marshals Service.Officials with Mesa police say officers exchanged gunfire with the man. U.S. Marshals officials say the shooting also involved Arizona WANTED Violent Offender Task Force members.The man was ultimately taken into custody.
According to Mesa police, the man who was barricaded was involved in a murder and armed robbery in March.Documents say Proctor and another individual entered a business where someone resided and engaged in a struggle over property.Proctor told investigators that he took property that belonged to the victim, according to court documents.This incident is currently under investigation.
