An allegedly unlicensed driver charged over a crash that killed two teenage boys will remain behind bars following his first court appearance. Nicholas Thew faces nine charges over the crash on at Ashcroft on Monday morning.

Man faces court over Ashcroft crash. The 27-year-old is accused of being behind the wheel of a car that crashed into a tree and a power pole, leaving two boys — aged 13 and 14 — dead at the scene. One of the boys was thrown from the vehicle on impact, while the other was held in by his seatbelt. Thew was allegedly driving more than 45km/h over the speed limit at the time of the crash and failed to stop and assist. He is also accused of never holding a driver’s licence.
