'Almighty backflip': Research gets budget boost after tax incentives threatened

Research will gain a funding boost in the federal budget to encourage more companies to develop new products, sparking Labor claims of a 'backflip' on tax changes that have stalled in Parliament | CroweDM

The government said the six priority sectors to receive new funding would be resources technology and critical minerals processing; food and beverage manufacturing; medical products; clean energy and recycling; defence; and space.in June at a Senate inquiry that also heard concerns from Manufacturing Australia and Medicines Australia.

The Senate committee reviewing the bill moved in August to delay its final report until October 12, six days after the budget, giving the government time to overhaul the changes in light of the new industry plan.
