Shooters, Fishers and Farmers leader Robert Borsak says his party has never had dealings with the NRA and described his party as 'in the dead centre' when it came to gun laws | LisaVisentin

Asked if any Shooters MPs or party officials had received strategic advice from the NRA, Mr Borsak said "no, not that I know of."

Mr Borsak said the Shooters had no policies to weaken the state's gun laws, but would seek a review of the functions and financing of NSW Firearms Registry, which he said was under-resourced. Mr Borsak was flanked by his newly elected colleagues - Orange MP Phil Donato, Murray MP-elect Helen Dalton, Barwon MP-elect Roy Butler and upper house member elect Mark Banasiak - as he declared the Shooters would be "unashamedly biased for the bush".

He also committed to introducing bills to reverse the government's forced council mergers and Sydney's lockout laws, and a "right to farm bill" to better protect farmers against animal rights activists. The final makeup of the Legislative Council is yet to be finalised, but the Shooters will likely share the balance of power with an expanded crossbench, which will include Mr Latham.
