‘Always going to be problems’: Premier defends flaws in trams, ferries | Rabe9
Cracking trams and the troubled ferry system are a reality of running a massive public transport system and Sydney has the safest network in Australia, NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet has said.
Mr Perrottet said the suspended inner west light rail system, which was put on ice for up to 18 months in October after cracks were discovered in all 12 trams, was evidence the transport system was working how it should.“It shows the system is working, because when there are challenges, what we do is we take the decisions we’ve made and we address them, and that’s what we’re doing,” Mr Perrottet said.
“I have received no information, my understanding is nor has the transport minister, in respect of whether action should have been taken earlier in regard to that matter,” he said.
