In the final hours before what could be a massive railroad strike, workers say sick-time policies and quality of life concerns remain unresolved. Officials were apparently correct in their fear a strike would spill over to passenger trains and the still recovering supply chain.
There are growing concerns that tens of thousands of railroad workers nationwide could walk off the job Friday. Passengers on Bay Area railways are worried. Earlier, Amtrak wrote: "Amtrak has begun to make initial service adjustments in response to a possible freight railroad service interruption that could occur later this week. If your train is canceled, we will attempt to notify you at least 24 hours in advance." There are no changes to Caltrain service on Thursday, but if a strike is called, Caltrain will suspend service between its Capitol Station in San Jose and Gilroy Station.
But even a deal may not resolve this issue. "And then, I'm not quite sure if everybody is gonna show up and go back to work," said Blaze.
