The city has delayed its planned Amundsen Park, Chicago fieldhouse closure as it looks for alternate site for migrants. The city is exploring an "alternate site" to Amundsen Park for its 22nd migrant shelter, according to Ald. Chris Taliaferro .
For the moment, the city councilman said the park's closing had been, at the very least, temporarily put on hold by the last-minute proposal. "We're taking away opportunities from our young people when we say we want to give them alternatives to going downtown or gathering en masse and doing the negative things that have been done," Taliaferro said last week. "We can't take these resources, especially in our underserved communities."
Knudtson said her concerns are mostly with how the fieldhouse could fit 200 migrants, but also the loss of resources for local kids.
