Analysis: March Madness bracket projection and today’s games to watch
Oregon and Kenny Wooten, right, beat Jaylen Nowell and Washington last weekend, and could could steal a bid by doing it again in the Pac-12 final. By Patrick Stevens March 16 at 12:13 PM Selection Sunday is one day away. The 68-team field for the NCAA men’s basketball tournament be unveiled on CBS starting at 6 p.m. Eastern time March 17. Read on for the key games to watch Saturday as well as our latest projected March Madness bracket.
Buffalo vs. Bowling Green : Winner of 11 in a row, Buffalo is getting in no matter how this game goes. The same is not true of the Falcons , who would nudge a bubble team out of the NCAA field if they can upend the Bulls. It would be Bowling Green’s first NCAA bid since 1968. Big East: Villanova vs. Seton Hall : Funny how Seton Hall was a borderline postseason team a couple weeks ago. Victories over Marquette, Villanova, Georgetown and Marquette have put the Pirates in position to wear their home whites in the NCAA tournament. As for Villanova, it’s business as usual as the Wildcats play in their fifth consecutive Big East final. A No. 5 seed seems like a realistic possibility for Jay Wright’s bunch.
Conference call: Big Ten , ACC , Big 12 , SEC , Big East , American Athletic , Atlantic 10 , Mountain West , Pac-12 , West Coast Virginia vs. winner of NORTHEAST/Fairleigh Dickinson vs. METRO ATLANTIC/Iona LSU vs. AMERICA EAST/VermontDes MoinesThere’s still a case for Virginia as the No. 1 overall seed based on the entirety of the Cavaliers’ portfolio. But if the Cavaliers end up elsewhere on the top line, does it really matter? Not really, besides the longer trip.
