Anchorage city government’s human resources director, Niki Tshibaka, resigned Monday, Mayor Dave Bronson’s office announced. His departure is the latest in a string of resignations and firings of top officials in Bronson’s administration.
Raylene Griffith, the department’s labor relation’s director, will serve as acting director of human resources, the mayor’s office said.Tshibaka has been at the center of an Assembly investigation into the administration’s hiring of former Health Department Director, who fabricated details on his resume to the city. The Assembly’s chair issued a subpoena to Tshibaka and held a closed-door session over the issue in January.
Tshibaka is also at the center of a wrongful termination lawsuit against the city by the former director of Anchorage’s Office of Equal Opportunity, Heather MacAlpine.
