KARL: The 18th century is, how I can say, our French folklore. Like the Japanese wear the kimono, for them it was the thing they did for ages and ages … French 18th-century clothes are folkloric. You see I didn’t do the court dresses. I did the country, the casual thing of that period which is a sort of folklore for me.JACQUES: Yes, he was inspired by antique china, such as those of Meissen and Nyon.Some of the porcelains from that time were made in China and sent back to France.
ANDRE: With at least 200-300 different types of crepe de chine in Europe, how do you find the best ones?People make it for me that way and that’s the way I get it. If it influences others, I ignore it because I got what I want.
