Andrew Bolt has announced live on air that he has decided to stay at Sky News for another two years to give former prime minister Malcolm Turnbull more to “complain about'.

Turnbull wrote an op-ed in the Guardian on Tuesday which was highly critical of Sky’s coverage of the Voice to Parliament debate and the decision to launch a 24/7 channel dedicated to the upcoming referendum.

He noted he had been “agonising” over whether to retire or continue his program prior to Turnbull’s column, but the attack had convinced him to stay on.Bolt then pulled out his phone to send an email to Sky News Australia’s CEO Paul Whittaker confirming he would accept the offer to renew his contract for one more year, before tacking on one extra.

The Sky News host had addressed Turnbull’s column in detail during his editorial earlier in the program, calling the former PM a “bitter, vindictive man” and a “hypocrite”.
