Andrew Burfield told he could die in prison after being sentenced for murdering Katie Kenyon
The ex-partner of Katie Kenyon, Andrew Burfield, has been handed a lengthy prison sentence after admitting to the murder of the Lancashire mum, with the prospect of dying behind bars a reality.
He was asked whether he killed Katie Kenyon and replied with one word - "guilty". Mr Justice Goose brought Burfield back to Preston Crown Court on Thursday to pass sentence. He was given a minimum of 32 years in prison, with the prospect of never being released due to how dangerous he is.Mum-of-two Katie was last seen getting in to a van in Padiham on April 22 this year.
Katie's body was found seven days after she went missing, hidden beneath leaves and twigs, in a grave so well concealed a forensic archaeologist could not find it, the prosecution told the jury. It was only discovered whenKatie's sister became suspicious Burfield was involved
