The way things are going, he may be the only athlete still competing when the Games return to the City of Angels in 2028, with the 65-year-old Australian eyeing off his ninth Olympics in Paris. And he has no intention of slowing down anytime soon.If Hoy is selected in the Australian team for Paris, only Canadian equestrian Ian Miller will have competed at more Games, anDespite all his success, the one thing that never escapes people’s interest is Hoy’s age.
“The one that definitely stands out is Sydney: team gold medal, individual silver medal, home Olympics,” he says. Hoy won team silver in Tokyo alongside Kevin McNab and Shane Rose – a rider he was likely to compete with again in Paris until a pelvic fracture threw his selection into doubt. “It has been a week since Shane’s accident, and he continues to improve each day. Shane is very thankful for all the love and support he has received,” the statement reads.
