Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews says the Presidents Cup golf tournament is expected to inject "between 50 and 100 million dollars" into the state's economy. "It's a really significant ejection. It comes off the back of Spring racing carnival and just before Australian Open tennis," he said. "That's why we keep events coming and that's why Melbourne and Victoria are - without a doubt - the sports capital of Australia.
" Mr Andrews told Sky News Victoria's visitor economy is worth "about $25 billion a year or about 225,000 jobs" that depend on events like the Presidents Cup. "You can't experience this anywhere else and that's what brings so many visitors from every part of the world. "Hotels, bars and restaurants are absolutely full this week and that's great for jobs and that's why we have these events.
