The final major tournament of 2023 gets underway on August 28 as Murray looks to improve on his run to the third round at Flushing Meadows last year.The three-time Grand Slam champion, who plays with a metal hip after career-saving surgery, has been on a resurgence in 2023.
Murray has won three titles this year – one on clay and two on grass – and the former world No.1 has climbed back up the rankings his current position of No.36. But he has been hit by an injury problem and was forced to pull out of the Cincinnati Open on Tuesday as he attempts to manage an abdominal strain.
Murray picked up the issue at last week’s Canadian Open and withdrew from the event prior to his last-16 clash against eventual champion Jannik Sinner.
