Lancashire Constabulary has issued an update on the matter after former Fleetwood Town FC director Andy Pilley was jailed for fraud
Police say no evidence of criminal wrongdoing was found in response to claims a juror was offered a bribe in the trial of convicted fraudster Andy Pilley.
The trial heard that at the heart of the fraud “was a web of interconnected companies that misled innocent small businesses across the UK” into signing long-term energy contracts between 2014 and 2016. The fraudulent mis-selling included false or misleading statements about the length and price of the contract as well as competitor rates.Charities including guest houses, children’s charities and companies providing support services for disabled people were among those targeted.
In September, Lancashire Constabulary confirmed it was looking into the claims but has now said the case has been discontinued. A spokesperson said: “The complaint was investigated and there was no evidence of any criminal wrongdoing. No further action was taken and the investigation has now been closed pending any new information coming to light.”
