NEW YORK — As many second-guess the Angels for their handling of Shohei Ohtani leading up to the stunning diagnosis about his elbow, Manager Phil Nevin conceded that even the thoughts have crossed his mind.
, which ends his season as a pitcher, both Nevin and General Manager Perry Minasian reiterated that there were no signs of an injury before Wednesday. Minasian said the Angels did not do an MRI exam or any other imaging of Ohtani’s arm during the time leading up to Wednesday’s start. Ohtani asked to skip his start during the series against the Texas Rangers earlier this month, so he had two full weeks off leading up to his start on Wednesday.“As we sit here today, he’s going to play until he tells us he’s not,” Minasian said.
