ANAHEIM ― The Angels avoided a series sweep the hard way.
The first two home runs staked Angels starter Reid Detmers to a 4-2 lead over Diamondbacks starter Zac Gallen two innings into the game. Detmers allowed three hits and two runs in six innings, walked two batters and struck out nine. He picked up his first win since June 8 following a string of three consecutive no-decisions. Over his last five starts, the 23-year-old left-hander has lowered his ERA from 5.15 to 3.72.
