Thanks to an odd glitch, one Animal Crossing player saw their island's rivers turn red.”
One Animal Crossing: New Horizons player's rivers turned red. While it might appear to be something out of the Book of Exodus, this change is not a feature of the game. Still, it appeared to scare the player and many others, with whom they shared an image of this rare occurrence.
Animal Crossing players have encountered plenty of strange features, quirks, and glitches in the two years since the game was released. One of the oddest such instances was when an Animal Crossing player discovered they could hide a body in-game. While it wasn't a real body , it was a very unique interaction that impressed many people. Now, another player has found a similarly strange issue with the rivers on their island.
Posted to Reddit by user clintwoodp84, the image shows the rivers of their island turned a bright red. While clintwoodp84 did confirm that this was simply a visual glitch that was eventually resolved, it didn't stop others in the comments from making some funny jokes at this odd situation. Some, of course, made reference to the rivers running red with blood that was one of the ten plagues from the Bible's Book of Exodus.
Even though the blood-red river was just the result of a glitch, it's still quite hilarious to see. Luckily, most of such glitches in Animal Crossing are similarly innocuous and not game-breaking. The river turning red doesn't appear to affect the player's ability to fish, so at least the island ecosystem is unaffected.
Although there are no more major updates planned for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, it is possible that glitches like this could be patched in the future. Dataminers have already begun to investigate and find that another update to expand Animal Crossing's store Nook's Cranny could be coming. Perhaps with it there will be changes to make sure no one else's islands have rivers that turn red. .
