CLEVELAND, Ohio – A grand jury on Wednesday handed felony charges to Parma woman accused of neglecting 36 dogs, including 13 that died, according to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office.
“This woman operated to the public under the guise of helping dogs in need of a home, and then caused the death of 13 dogs and severely harmed 23 dogs in our county alone,” said Prosecutor Michael O’Malley said. “I hope this truly horrific case does not deter people from adopting dogs from reputable rescue organizations. If you have any concerns about animal mistreatment or abuse, you can report them to your local animal control officers or police department.
They later found several dog cages and feces inside of the garage, and four or five dogs that were deadThe dogs did not have food or water, and some of them had not been fed since March, prosecutors said. Police found 36 dogs, all malnourished, locked in cages in the home, prosecutors said. Some of the cages were too small for the dogs, and they were locked inside with their own feces.
