Parramatta have been praised for the decision to allow young gun Matthew Arthur to leave the club, with NRL legend Gorden Tallis describing it as a “smart move.”While the move came as a surprise, given Arthur’s talent in a problem position for the Eels - hooker - Tallis explained on Wednesday night’severy game of every round this NRL Telstra Premiership Season LIVE with no ad-breaks during play on Kayo.
The teenager represented the Blues at under-19’s level earlier this year, scoring the match winning try in the Blues’ 14-10 victory. While hooker is a position Parramatta have been lacking since allowing Reed Mahoney to leave for the Bulldogs at the end of 2022, Arthur’s departure signals intent from the Eels to allow Ryles’ reign to begin with a clean slate.the incoming Eels coach, who is expected to arrive at the club in the coming weeks, is “brooming anyone with any sort of skin in the joint that’s connected to Brad Arthur.”
