Four of the former-couple’s six children have now taken the dramatic step.
According to court documents obtained bymagazine, the former couple’s oldest daughter Zahara has officially dropped her father’s surname. The filings show a California judge approved the name change without objection, with the 21-year-old now going by Zahara Marley Jolie instead of Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt.

According to People, Zahara filed a petition in June to drop Pitt from her last name, around the same time her brother Maddox took the same legal step. In July, both siblings confirmed their intent by publishing legal notices in the Los Angeles Daily Journal in accordance with California law. Jolie and Pitt’s relationship began on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2004 and evolved into one of Hollywood’s most high-profile romances before ending in a drawn-out divorce.
Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in September 2016 after two years of marriage and 12 years together. , his general optimistic outlook on life saved him from self-destruction.
“I was never suicidal in any way. It just was not my makeup. In fact, if I have any afflictions, it’s probably being a congenital optimist,” Pitt said. Pitt said “incredible survival instincts” kicked in and stopped him from acting on his dark thoughts.
