Chinese Premier Li Qiang’s visit underlined the importance of Western Australia to Australia’s trade relationship with China.
Already a subscriber?It is no surprise Anthony Albanese laid claim to being an honorary West Australian in front of Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
Led by iron ore from WA, exports have grown from $74.8 billion in 2014-15 partly aided by a free trade agreement. WA Premier Roger Cook and former WA treasurer Ben Wyatt, who is now on the boards of Rio and Woodside, were also prominent in listening to Li and Albanese talk about a warmer relationship.
