Anthony Albanese to live at The Lodge full-time as he governs from Canberra | CameronGooley
Anthony Albanese has revealed he will live in the prime minister’s official residence in Canberra, rather than the Sydney harbourside mansion that has been home to almost every leader from New South Wales since John Howard., Albanese revealed that he had already moved his possessions into The Lodge and planned to lead the country from the capital.
Albanese’s predecessor Scott Morrison moved into the prime minister’s Sydney residence, Kirribilli House, with his family in 2018 - effectively governing primarily from the city. Aspen Island, an artificial island in Lake Burley Griffin and home to the National Carillon, was renamed Queen Elizabeth II Island by Albanese in a ceremony on Saturday morning.“For seven remarkable decades, Her Majesty has been an embodiment of grace, fidelity and dignity, and Australia has a deep affection for her,” he told the crowd.
