Anthony Stinson faces a life sentence when he appears at Preston Crown Court
A killer who made a violet rap video hours before stabbing a Blackburn mum to death will be sentenced at Preston Crown Court tomorrow .On March 3 of this year Charlotte Wilcock, 31, was smoking a cigarette on her doorstep in Primrose Terrace, Blackburn, when she was set upon by Anthony Stinson. Stinson, a complete stranger to Charlotte, kicked her and stabbed her with a Stanley knife while her 15-month-old daughter was in bed upstairs.
CCTV also showed him speaking calmly to shopkeeper as he bought alcohol and cigarettes, 15 minutes before the attack. Psychiatrists were instructed to assess Stinson's mental state and on Monday August 21 he abandoned his defence and pleaded guilty to murder. Detective chief inspector Mark Haworth-Oates, of Lancashire Police, said: “It is clear from speaking to Charlotte’s family that she was very much-loved, and her death has left a huge void in the lives of those who knew her, not least her two children who will now grow up without their mother. It is such a needless loss of a life in truly awful circumstances.”
“Charlotte had never met Stinson before that night and had no personal connection to him – she was merely sat on her own doorstep having a cigarette. She should have been safe and could never have foreseen what was about to happen." Stinson, of Queen Victoria Street, Blackburn, now faces a life sentence. The Honorary Recorder of Preston, Judge Robert Altham, will set the minimum term before he can apply for parole.
