Franklin Graham, 71, is set to return to the OVO Hydro next year after successfully suing the owners of the venue in 2020 after they cancelled plans for a previous event.

A controversial preacher who previously sued the owners of Glasgow Hydro for cancelling his event over fears it was homophobic, says he'll return to the venue next year.

Franklin Graham, 71, is set to come back to the city next June, after winning £97,000 in damages from OVO Hydro operators, Scottish Event Campus, for previously cancelling his arranged tour planned for the venue in 2020.Speaking about next June’s God Loves You tour, the American preacher, who is the son of late evangelist Billy Graham, stated: "We are excited to preach the gospel in Glasgow.

In 2020, his event was called off amid concerns about possible protests at Graham's apparent views on homosexuality. Franklin's Billy Graham Evangelistic Association then later claimed the SEC breached the Equality Act by not letting him perform.A spokesperson for the SEC told Glasgow Live: "The SEC welcomes many and varied performers, artists and speakers to its venues and believes that all have the right to freedom of expression. This includes Reverend Franklin Graham and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

"By doing so, the SEC expresses no view on any content, beliefs or values of any performance or performer."
