The selection of viral breakdancing sensation of Rachael 'Raygun' Gunn for the Paris Olympics has been defended by the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) in a hard-hitting statement.
The Australian Olympic Committee has defended the Oceania qualifying process for breakdancing, hitting back at a petition featuring wild allegations over how viral athlete Rachael ' Raygun ' Gunn qualified for the Paris Games.The selection of viral breakdancing sensation of Rachael ' Raygun ' Gunn for the Paris Olympics has been defended by the Australian Olympic Committee in a hard-hitting statement.
The AOC has now responded with strong condemnation after wild allegations emerged in a change.org petition over how Gunn was selected to travel to Paris. "AOC Chief Executive Officer Matt Carroll says the AOC has written to change.org which has published the petition demanding it be immediately withdrawn.
The AOC listed the following dot points, which it described as the"facts" about how the qualifying process was undertaken and how Gunn was selected. The event was conducted by AUSBreaking under the auspices of DanceSport Australia and the WDSF and complying with WDSF guidelines. Athletes from four countries – Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Fiji competed.
