Apple has just fixed the iOS 17 End call button controversy by placing the red hang-up call button in the center, where it might belong.
What Apple did was to change the place of that End call button to better address muscle memory-related concerns.
would be placed on the right side in the second row of buttons come iOS 17. The other buttons would also get a reshuffle of sorts. These visual identifiers will tell you who is calling. They’ll be customizable, and they’ll take up the entire display. You can’t have buttons on top of someone’s face, it ruins the entire concept.
That made me realize that Apple’s iOS 17 End call button redesign would not go away no matter the backlash. If there would be one. I don’t care where that red button is, I’ll always know what to tap to end a call.
