The brilliant travel app is offering a way for developers to make contact at WWDC23. Here’s all you need to know.

It then shows how many countries the flights are hailing from, which is 33 just now, and which airports, for example.

Flighty is an addictive app, often showing you the gate you’re flying from before it’s on the airport boards, or revealing that dreaded delay faster than you may like to know.It was one of the first apps to really make the most of the Dynamic Island, and is my constant companion when I’m flying anywhere. If I squint hard enough at the map when I’m leaving Heathrow, it often tells me whether my plane is heading to the south runway where I might get a glimpse of Concorde.

As well as Flighty, I’m a big fan of Plane Finder, a sensational app from developer Lee Armstrong, which offers a very cool 3D view of the ground, dotted with planes and even helicopters. It also has a glorious augmented reality view which, when you hold the iPhone up, shows the world in front of you but additionally, tags passing aircraft with floating detail panels.

If you enjoy travel, I’d recommend both, oh, and Plane Finder’s sibling app Ship Finder which can make you sound very knowledgeable about boats bobbing along enticingly in the water in front of you. For now, though, the new website from Flighty just reminds us that WWDC is almost upon us, and that the considerable build-up to the occasion will shortly be over, and all Apple’s secrets will be revealed. Apps, software, Mac hardware and, of course, the headset that may possibly be called Reality Pro, are all rumored to be on the menu.
