The Age will hire five trainee journalists as part of a broader expansion of the newsrooms. TheAge

is seeking five trainee reporters who are committed to a career in journalism and are capable of generating original and innovative ideas for reports across multiple platforms.and an ability to connect with its diverse audiences.The training program will focus on developing reporting and production skills for digital and print, and creating impactful journalism across a broad range of topics.

The positions will initially be offered as 12-month full-time contracts with a view to extend or potentially lead to permanent employment.and traineeships will commence in late February 2022. A degree in journalism or arts is desirable. However, subject specialist graduates with an aptitude for journalism are strongly encouraged to apply.the introduction of new journalists to the newsroom was an indication of the confidence its leaders have in the health of both mastheads .
