President and CEO of Arcturus Therapeutics Joseph Payne says the COVID-19 vaccine which his company is producing is different from other RNA vaccines because it is a “self-replicating” messenger RNA vaccine.

The vaccine has already begun human trials and is possibly on the cusp of a breakthrough, according to Sky News host Brent O’Halloran. “Our vaccine is different from other RNA vaccines in that it’s a self-replicating messenger RNA vaccine,” Mr Payne said.

“We utilise a delivery technology that’s unique to Arcturus called LUNAR. “So when you combine these two technologies of self-replicating messenger RNA and utilising our delivery technology, then we have very unique and potential benefits to this vaccine.” Image: AP
