New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has welcomed counterpart Anthony Albanese's 'real awareness' of the long-standing complaints she has voiced about Australia's deportation of criminals.

The pair agreed to"work through" New Zealand's complaints on the issue during a joint press conference on Friday morning following their first in-person bilateral meeting.
