New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is hopeful the new government will bring a change to the criminal deportation laws under Section 501 of the Migration Act.
Ms Ardern arrived in Australia for the first time since 2020 on Thursday evening and shared a private meal with the Prime Minister before discussing the deportation laws and China’s influence in the pacific.

Ms Ardern will give the Prime Minister some time to consider the revision but admitted the deportations have been a “bugbear” for a long time.
