The FIA has recently introduced a new technical directive to figure out if any of the Formula 1 teams have been overspending in their pursuit of victory.

The governing body has become aware of a loophole in the cost cap regulations that were introduced in 2021, and it seems some of the top teams have been exploiting this ambiguity. The cost cap was put in place to stop team spending from going out of control and to create a financially-sustainable environment to entice more investors and potential teams to the sport.of breaching the cap at the end of last year, and were subsequently hit with a $7 million fine as well as a 10% reduction in wind tunnel testing in preparation for 2023.
