After months of flooding rains the state is in the firing line with experts warning of aThe state's Australian Medical Association has called for eligible residents to get vaccinated against JEV; a potentially fatal disease that can cause severe neurological illness with headaches, convulsions and reduced consciousness.AMA President, Dr Michael Bonning said "anyone west of Dubbo" should start investigating whether they can get the jab.

"If you spend more than four hours a day outdoors, or live in temporary or flood-damaged accommodation, or have been involved in prolonged flood recovery efforts, then you may be eligible for a free vaccine.
