I do not want my taxes to pay for education that allows people to segregate themselves with like-minded peers.
When public education supports teachers unions that demand ever more money for failing schools and misguided curricula, the only option left is choice. The freedom to choose how one’s children are taught belongs to parents, not teachers or school systems. Private and parochial schools are wonderful. God bless ‘em! But instead of taking resources from public schools to help finance private and parochial schools, why not double the money we give public schools, not for “things,” but for hiring more teachers to reduce class sizes?
Instead of a special session for vouchers, Abbott should be doing all he can to fully fund public education. This should include teacher raises and better health insurance. A strong and healthy public education system goes hand in hand with a strong and healthy economy.
