After so much success at her debut Olympic Games in Tokyo Ariarne Titmus has revealed she has spoken to coach Dean Boxall about her future after next year's event in Paris.
Australian swimming superstar Ariarne Titmus has admitted she has considered retiring after the Paris 2024 Olympics.
“I plan to continue swimming, but I can’t think beyond . It’s too overwhelming. I can’t possibly think, 'Ohh my God, another Olympic cycle already'.” During the opening day of the trials Titmus won the 400 metre freestyle final with a time of 3:58.47 almost four seconds ahead of her nearest competitor.
“I don’t know what I’m going to do after Paris. I plan to continue, but you never know. And this could be like my fourth last 400m, including Paris and trials and worlds. Titmus later clarified she still loves competing in the pool and doesn’t want to quit the sport but was voicing how hard consistent training can be after early success.
“At the moment I feel like I try to forget what I’ve achieved in my swimming career. I’m just trying to be that young kid that I was when I first started swimming to draw motivation from.”
